We are proud to have unveiled the UK’s first ever portable coffee roastery.
The bespoke roastery will enable us to increase the scale of our operations – increasing coffee production to fund our vital veterans’ outreach services.
Dozens of guests from across the coffee industry and third sector met at the our HQ on Wednesday, December 11 to mark the official launch.
Nigel Seaman, founder of Combat2Coffee, said:
“Becoming the first UK coffee company to operate a portable roastery is a real statement of intent from us.
“This isn’t a portable coffee shop or an upscaled coffee machine you’d find in your kitchen – this is an amazing bit of kit that turns raw coffee beans into something incredible.
“The process includes roasting beans up to 200 degrees, creating the ideal temperature for the bold, rich flavours of coffee to develop through hundreds of chemical reactions over a matter of minutes.
“That great coffee is what fuels our work in supporting hundreds of veterans and their families across Suffolk.”
The roastery has been named after Lieutenant Peter Rous, of the Scots Guards, who died while on a military exercise in 2009. His father, former High Sheriff of Suffolk, Robert, and his mother Teresa were both in attendance at the opening ceremony.
Two veterans we have helped support, Danny and Matt, spoke on the day about how the social enterprise has helped transform their lives. Operations Director Graziano Moroni also hosted a coffee sensory session.
Other guests included coffee trader Calum Maciel Brough, who first introduced Nigel to his Brazilian farm partners in 2018, and patron Terry Butcher.
Nigel added:
“We couldn’t be more excited to unveil our portable roastery – especially ahead of what is set to be another historic year for Combat2Coffee.
“We want to ramp up our operations, reaching more veterans in need and forging exciting new partnerships with organisations across our county.
“This portable roastery will allow us to do exactly that and more.”
